Greely Center for the Arts Grand Opening

Please join us on January 28, 2019 from 6-9pm as we host the Grand Opening of the Greely Center for the Arts. Come for the evening or swing by to see a short performance or view the art gallery....either way, we hope to see you there! For a complete detailed schedule, visit our website.

6th Graders Celebrate Half-Way Mark

Last week, GMS 6th graders celebrated their "half way" mark: exactly half way through their K-12 education. They did this in creative ways, from painting half their faces to changing classes halfway through their class blocks, all in good fun. Just 6.5 years until graduation!

Students Raise Money for Guatemala
6th Graders in Mrs. Adams class held a "Pie Your Teachers" fundraiser to raise money for a village in Guatemala. Students raised $433 and plan to purchase a trampoline for the kids. Many thanks to the 17 GMS staff members who agreed to be "pied" in the face for this fundraiser!

GMS FLS Class Splashes Up District Tagline

Many thanks to the students and staff of the GMS Functional Life Skills class for putting some extra splash into the district's strategic vision of Engage. Empower. Inspire. Their beautiful rendition of the tagline is energizing and creative.

Vocal Masterclass

GHS chorus was visited by Dr. Malinda Haslett, Head of Vocal Studies at USM, who ran a masterclass with some of our singers. Thank you, Dr. Haslett.

Budget Primer

The District is committed to helping our students, parents, community members and staff better understand our budget. Over the course of the next few weeks, I will be sharing a series of short videos that I call "Budget Primers". These will hopefully better explain some of the details of our budget. This second primer better explains per pupil expenses...

Congratulations Goes To...

Congratulations to GHS student Halley Price for winning an Honorable Mention Scholastic Award for Digital Art: Moments Past. Halley now has the opportunity to compete in the 2019 Maine Region Scholastics Exhibition, which takes place at Maine College of Art from January 25–February 9th.

GHS Debate Team competed in the National Qualifiers tournament, held at the State House in Augusta, which produced very favorable results for Greely!  Zach Whiting took the 1st place award in the House chamber, Carson Bell took 2nd place in the Senate, and Ben Hall is a highly placed alternate who will attend Nationals if other qualified students choose not to attend Nationals in Dallas, TX in late June.
Wren Payne and Victoria Boure were also important participants in Greely’s best ever showing for our Congressional team at this annual tournament!
