Update: June 7, 2021
Congrats, Class of 2021!
On a beautiful (but a little warm) afternoon this past Sunday, the graduating seniors of the Class of 2021 enjoyed an outdoor ceremony for the first time in decades. In a year of so many uncertainties, having the entire class graduate together was a goal. Graduation was followed by a parade through the streets of Cumberland and then off to Twin Brook for Project Graduation and the post-ceremonial celebration. The newest alumni class of Greely High School is now off to college, work, military, and a gap year. Our sincerest congrats and best wishes to the Class of 2021!

Earlier in the week, a "Senior Walk" took place with students and staff cheering the senior class on as they walked through campus.

Solar Rays
Students from the GHS Climate Action Team met with Cindy Nadeau of Revision Energy and Cumberland Town Manager Bill Shane to discuss Cumberland's solar farm on Drowne Road. Students are learning about solar energy's benefits toward sustainability.

Congrats...
Alex Liu for graduating from STRIVE last week
GMS students' project featured at Smithsonian
Jordan Young, Eden Marshall, and Maya Zimmerman, students at GMS 6-8, will have their National History Day documentary project “Do Not Ride a Bus Today: How Communication in the Montgomery Bus Boycott Desegregated the Public Bus System" featured at The National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington, DC, part of the Smithsonian Institute.
This is a rare occurrence for students to gain this honor of being featured at the Smithsonian. Their project was proposed for this invitation because of its connection to NMAAHC's mission in telling American history through the African American lens, or highlighting stories of human rights, civil rights, the histories of marginalized and other underrepresented communities. The Documentary Showcase will be hosted virtually by the Smithsonian's National Museum of African American History and Culture this year, streamed and available to the general public on-demand via NMAAHC's Learning Lab page from June 16-23.
