MLK Montgomery Bus Boycott Speech

Students and staff at GHS celebrated the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. by reenacting his Montgomery Bus Boycott speech.  Dr. King delivered this speech several days after Rosa Parks was arrested for refusing to sit in the back of a city bus in 1955, touching off a year-long boycott of the Montgomery bus service at that time.  Check out Dr. King's stirring speech, as retold by our students and staff, at this link:  GHS Video

MIW Staff Teams Up with Bates College

Staff at Mabel Wilson participated last week in a training around how to find and utilize best practices with diverse books in the Pre-K -3 classroom. Teachers learned more about the research on racial identity development in youth, how young children come to see and understand race, and how staff can use read-alouds in the classroom. Many thanks to Bates College for providing this training.

Parenthood During a Pandemic

Being a parent is hard work in a typical year, but trying to navigate parenthood during a pandemic and all the uncertainties that come with it is even more challenging and can cause us all to take a pause and reflect.  Greely PTO is hosting a Parent University session on this topic.  Register on the Greely PTO website.
