Outdoor Classroom Week
8th grade math classes participated in outdoor classroom week by going outside and getting active while also collecting data for analysis. Each student in our classes took 2 goal shots. When we returned to class, we analyzed the results in two-way tables, making conclusions about the relative soccer skills of our classes using relative frequency and percentage data.
Challenge DayOur 4th annual Challenge Day(s) took place at GHS on November 4&5 in which the entire sophomore class participated!

Challenge Days are powerful, high-energy programs in which youth participants are guided through a series of experiential learning processes. The overall goals of the program are to increase personal power and self-esteem, to shift dangerous peer pressure to positive peer support and to eliminate the acceptability of teasing, violence and all forms of oppression. The Challenge Day Program is designed to unite the members of the school or community and to empower them to carry the themes of the program back to the school population. Challenge Days also successfully addresses issues of violence, teasing, social oppression, racism, harassment, conflict management, suicide, peer pressure, alcohol and drugs.
Special thanks to the 35 adult participants who, without their support and commitment of time, this program would not run. Also a shout out to GHS Principal Chris Hoffman for organizing this entire program!
SRO Mazuzan in the Classroom
School Resource Officer, Kirk Mazuzan teamed up with Mrs. Waterhouse to teach fifth grade guidance class. Students are learning about the dangers of substance use, especially vaping.
Day of Welcome
If you were in Cumberland or North Yarmouth on Friday, October 25, you were likely to see a sea of orange, both on campus and off. The reason - celebration of Day of Welcome. Grades 4-12 Civil Rights teams chose to bring the Civil Rights Teams statewide project to MSAD #51.
The focus of the day and the week leading up to Day of Welcome, is to celebrate a school community where we all belong: All races, skin colors, national origins, religions, disabilities, sexual orientations, genders, and gender identities/ expression.
Greely Middle School students were welcomed to the day by CPD, CFD, local religous leaders, school and district administration and staff. Greely High School Students took the "Ranger Pledge": We recognize that our ideas, words, and actions have power, and we will use that power to promote a kind and inclusive school and community. I promise to treat all people with respect. Along with a number of other activities for the day, students also attended an all school assembly to hear from Mufalo Chitam, Executive Director of the Maine Immigrant Rights Coalition.
International Foods Class Goes to the Farm
Throughout this semester, Greely High School's International Foods Class has been partnering up with Farm to Table Kids to harvest many of their foods for the class. Check out this awesome piece that WGME 13 put together about the partnership and a little about what our students are getting out of their time on the farm and in the class.

Fill A Bus Fill A Belly
PTO’s annual Fill A Bus Fill A Belly Food Drive Campaign that stocks the shelves of our local food pantry was a wonderful success! Our generous community donated a large volume of food, as well as more than $500 in cash. Teacher Mrs. Storey-King's classes donated over 1,000 pounds of food! Many families turned out on Saturday morning to unload the bus and sort the food. This year broke the record for the amount of food donated and the amount of time it was processed and put away at the pantry. Thank you to everyone who supported this impactful community event!
