National History Day
Congrats to all of our National History Day students contestants for their outstanding performances at the state NHD competition at UMaine on April 8.
Devin Gifford (grade 6) - first place for Junior Individual Performance.
Matthew Gilbert (grade 7) - second place for Junior Individual Exhibit.
Don Strawbridge (grade 7) - second place for Junior Individual Website.
Teddy Conway (grade 6) - third place for Junior Individual Documentary.
Connor Albert (grade 6) - third place for Junior Individual Performance.
David Reed (grade 12) - third place for Senior Individual Exhibit.

UNUM Tech Day
For the second year in a row, about 20 GMS students attended UNUM's annual "Tech Day" to learn more about innovative STEM activities and equipment that are used by this company. Many thanks Community Development & Public Relations manager Ashley Caswell for partnering with UNUM on this project.

The "Greely Mathletes" attended the Maine State Math Meet in early April. There were about 100 teams totalling about 100 students from all over the state. Many thanks to math team advisors Vanessa Sylvester and Farrah Alley.
Greely placed 7th in our division.
Gregory Pershing had a perfect score today and won first place for juniors.
Gregory Pershing was recognized for finishing 1st in the state overall during the regular season.
Peter Theodores finished 20th in the state overall.
Gregory and Peter were invited to attend our regional meet at Penn State in June.
Our team was invited to attend the New England meet at the end of April.
The state math meet team members are:
Maggie Nolan, Peter Theodores, Greta Van Curan, Kallee Gallant, Izzy Evans, Gregory Pershing, Colony Santana, James Brouder, Connor Bray & Justin Hobart.
All-Eastern Music Festival
Congrats to our two All-Eastern musicians who represented Maine well at their festival in Atlantic City: Brian Sidders, senior, sang in the mixed chorus. Caroline Isasi, junior, played in the band.

MSAD #51 Annual Staff Recognition Finalists
MSAD #51's Employee Recognition Pro gram encourages any MSAD #51 employee to nominate another MSAD #51 employee that they felt exemplified the district's strategic vision of Engage - Empower - Inspire.
In the second year of the program, 49 nominations were received from staff across the district. A nomination review committee met and struggled to narrow that number down to 5. Each of the 5 finalists were notified in person, balloons and all. The following are the finalists for MSAD #51's 2017 Employee of the Year:
